At the heart of a Bobcat's learning experience is the partnership between our families and the school. Curriculum nights was a perfect way to focus on that connection and we thank all those who joined us. Parents talked with their teachers, 工作人员, and fellow parents and heard about the planning and thinking behind what happens in the classroom. We look forward to a successful year and many more opportunities to engage and come together.

If you go by the art room this year, you will be greeted by posters with lines like: Everyone’s an Artist, Students colored these posters that express the vision for art this year with guidance from our new teacher Ms. 绿色.

This vision was easy to see when the third grade were in class this week working on their self-portraits. Our creative students were shown the work of American artist Maira Kalman for inspiration. 的y then set out to compose their own self-portraits - a process that got them thinking in new ways.  Some students said at first they felt awkward and embarrassed to look at themselves in the mirror to draw themselves.

“I was excited by the number of details,”  Konstantin M.

I was very inspired by Maira Kalman and I went home and searched her up and learned about her brush strokes.”

索非亚C. 添加, “Even though art sometimes doesn’t look realistic, it can still look beautiful when you make art with your heart.”

We look forward to a year full of inspiration and creativity for all our artistic Bobcats.

Assembly is the culminating step in a months-long -making process in a special elective class. This year, nine members of the graduating class designed and built an incredible class , and during a special assembly held on Monday, 5月22日, they finally shared the finished project with the entire school community.

的 nine students also talked about their experience on the team — writing mottos, creating mini s, working with tools in the workshop, painting and repainting the 盾. 然后,我们 放映了一段视频 -making process, written and edited by one of the team members.

的 students are proud of what they were able to accomplish together, and their teacher, Mr. Lignier says he has no doubt the BHS community is proud of them, too. 祝贺 team of 2023 and all the graduating students in the eighth grade!

Students in grades 1-5 and Mr. Lignier's storytelling class were treated to a quackin' good time when Tad Hills, the author and illustrator of more than 20 books, 包括“鸭 & Goose" and "How Rocket Learned to Read," visited the library on Tuesday.

Mr. Hills read them "Rocket Writes a Story," talked about the writing process, He showed the students how his characters can be drawn using simple shapes and then painted the character of Duck in front of the students! 的 students asked many questions and made suggestions for future books Mr. 希尔斯可以写.

Our guest said he hoped his visit would inspire some of our Bobcats to become author/illustrators in the future.
This special event was paid for by book fair proceeds. A special thanks to all of our parents for supporting the book fair. Your generosity creates inspiring memories like this.
